As most of you know, my two toddler grand-babies came to live with us. They’re using my middle daughter’s old bedroom but it’s not set up for two young children. This series will follow the process of redesigning their bedroom. We’ll be doing everything over, making it a cozy space for them to dream and sleep. Check the bottom of this post for links to the rest of the series.
Toddler Bedroom Redesign: Eco-Friendly Bed
When my grand-babies moved in, my grandson already had a crib, but my granddaughter didn’t have a bed. There was already a futon in the room so she slept on that for the time being.
For this part of our redesign, I partnered with MyGreenMattress.com and they provided her with a comfy twin mattress.
My Green Mattresses are lovingly handcrafted in Illinois. They’re made from organic cotton, American eco-wool and organic Dunlop latex. Having an eco-friendly bed is important for so many families who have someone suffering from asthma or allergies.
The mattress came roll-packed, in heavy duty plastic wrap and cardboard. This was especially helpful because we were away when it was delivered and my daughter was able to keep it in our bedroom until we got home.
We removed the futon then put down a frame and box spring for the mattress. As soon as it was ready, my grand daughter wanted to test it out to see if it was comfy. I think her expression speaks for itself. She loved it!
The mattress is extremely comfortable and helps her get a good nights sleep which is very important for her. She suffers from night terrors and there are many nights that her sleep is not peaceful. While a mattress won’t help with night terrors, it provides a relaxing place to rest and be comforted.
I picked up some new sheets for the bed but I’m going to buy princess or Mickey Mouse sheets for her when I see some on sale. The Barbie comforter actually belonged to my younger daughter but my grand daughter claimed it. lol
Now that we have her bed in place, my next step will be to add some fun wall art to brighten up their room and make it more kid-friendly.
